EPA Settlement with Super-Concrete Corp. Enforces Clean Air Act Compliance at D.C. Plant
PHILADELPHIA (November 7, 2019) — Bardon Inc. (doing business as Super-Concrete Corporation) will pay a $259,272 penalty to settle multiple Clean Air Act violations over a five-year period at its ready-mix concrete plant in the Fort Totten area of Washington, D.C., the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today.
An EPA investigation determined that Super-Concrete violated emission standards, a control device operating parameter, and monitoring and recordkeeping requirements at its plant at 5001 Fort Totten Drive, NE. Some of the specific violations included:
- Unpermitted visible emissions,
- Failure to conduct or document weekly visual observations of emissions, and
- Violations of operating parameter performance, monitoring and recordkeeping requirements for particulate matter emission control devices.
Along with the penalty, the settlement requires Super-Concrete to cease all violations and to achieve and certify full compliance with applicable requirements.
